Lots of us have been doing the ChatGPT caricatures on Facebook. On the one hand, for me at least, it’s always interesting to see what the machine puts out. On the other hand, some people point to the waste of resources these AI data centers are or can be. The discussion rolls pretty deep.
I, myself, have come to a point where I’ll use AI for entertainment and, if the chance ever arises, success. Though in its current form I don’t see how AI could boost us on the record beyond what companies like Stenograph and Advantage are already doing. And the results, from what I’ve been hearing, are pretty mixed.
Maybe that makes me unimaginative. I’ll have to think about it.

Agree.
I’ve been trying to use Advantage Software’s Boost Minutes, which is their AI supplemental. I honestly can’t tell if it is helping me or hurting me or doing anything at all. [shrug]
I’ve never been a trend follower, and I instinctively did not do this. I’m a quasi-Luddite as I don’t use much of the AI that’s out there, but I do use the Boost minutes for Speechmatics engine (doing awesome in my voice realtime, BTW).
My issue with AI in general, though, is that it actually limits our innate creativity, whether in the arts (digital media) or in wordsmithing (letter generation). As someone who grew up reading and watching science fiction, which now feels like a warning, I continue to watch in wonder at how prescient these particular artists were.
Court reporters have been using some form of “AI” for decades, and especially so if you’ve been a voice writer. CAT software providers have been slapping an “AI” sticker on the box and charging you more for a long, long time. The big chatbots, though, are essentially psychosis-inducing, CSAM-extruding excuses to lay off as many white collar workers as possible. The best comment I’ve heard about “Claude” is that someone said they wished they could download it into a furby and beat it with a hammer.
I like Claude for what it is. The chatbots are not entirely useless, but from what I hear, they’re not entirely profitable either.
I found the blog I got that quote from:
